Labiaplasty

Procedure

Childbirth, pregnancy, weight changes, and aging can cause vaginal muscles and tissues to relax, stretch, tear, or even protrude outward.

These issues can be addressed with vaginal rejuvenation surgery, also known as vaginoplasty.

Through an incision in the perineum (the area between the vaginal opening and the anus), the surgeon can remove excess skin and tissue, tighten the vaginal canal, and reduce the size of the vaginal opening.

This procedure is often combined with labia reduction, which reshapes relatively large labia in relation to the vulva.

Approximately 2 hours.

General anesthesia is typically used for the patient’s comfort.

However, some patients prefer to undergo the procedure with local anesthesia.

Hospitalization is necessary, usually for 24 hours.

Patients can return to work within two weeks and should limit physical activity for six weeks.

Sexual activity can be resumed after six weeks.

Once the lips have completely healed, the new shape and size are typically maintained indefinitely. The removed skin and tissue do not grow back, so the reduction is permanent.

Although the results are permanent, like any part of the body, the lips may experience changes due to natural factors such as aging, skin elasticity, and other events like pregnancy or weight fluctuations. These changes do not alter the initial results but could modify the appearance over time.
