Breast Augmentation

Procedure
Breast Augmentation (Mammoplasty) enhances the size and appearance of the breasts through the placement of saline or silicone implants, either under or over the pectoral muscle, resulting in an improved aesthetic appearance.
Duration
Approximately 2 hours.
Type of Anesthesia
General or regional anesthesia can be used.
Need for Hospitalization
Depending on the surgeon’s preference, the procedure can be performed either with hospital admission or on an outpatient basis.
Possible Side Effects
- Mild to moderate temporary discomfort.
- Mild to moderate swelling.
- Changes in nipple sensitivity (increased or decreased).
- Temporary bruising.
- Breasts may be sensitive to stimulation for a few weeks.
Potential Risks
- It may be necessary to remove and/or replace implants if any of these issues arise:
- Volume loss.
- Implant rupture.
- Scar tissue formation around the implant (capsular contracture), which can cause tightness or hardness in the breast
- Bleeding
- Infection.
- Changes in nipple or breast sensitivity, which may sometimes be permanent
Recovery Time
The patient can return to work within a few days. Any physical contact with the breasts (except for the bra) should be avoided for about six weeks.
Scars will gradually smooth out within three months to a year after the surgery, depending on the individual’s healing process.
Type of Result
In most cases, the appearance lasts for five to ten years.
Results vary from patient to patient, but the overall effect is an enhancement of the breasts, leading to an improved appearance.
